Spotlight Feature: Elkady, Patel, Dr. Brunswicker present about skills & platform engagement

RCODI Fellows Mai Elkady, Feny Patel, and RCODI Director Dr. Sabine Brunswicker recently wrote about research on skills and engagement relative to Collective Intelligence. The three were and were invited to present at the 2021 ACM-CI Conference to present their findings.

The paper covers the role of skills and platform engagement within a crowd-sourcing platform. The three researchers used data generated from the Purdue IronHacks project. Their methods include using a variety of machine learning models (survival with Kaplan-Meier estimator, K-means & centroids derived from Ward’s agglomerative hierarchical clustering) to understand temporal engagement, profile skill sets and engagement, and to build predictive user submission models.
